Recipe of the Month - Walnut-Orange Cake

This simple, slightly crunchy cake needs only a dollop
of lightly sweetened whipped cream.
Makes 8 to 10 servings
Nonstick olive oil spray
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
4 large eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon finely grated orange peel
1/2 cup olive oil
Powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 9-inch-diameter
springform pan with nonstick olive oil spray. Place
parchment paper round in bottom of pan and spray
paper.
Grind walnuts in processor until finely ground but not
powdery. Combine ground walnuts, flour, and baking
powder in medium bowl; set aside.
Using electric mixer, beat eggs in large bowl until
frothy, about 2 minutes. Gradually add sugar, beating
until light, thick, and pale yellow, about 4 minutes.
Gradually add walnut-flour mixture; then add orange
juice, orange peel, and olive oil, beating just until
blended. Transfer batter to prepared pan. Place pan
on rimmed baking sheet, and bake cake until tester
inserted into center comes out clean, about 1 hour.
Cool cake completely in pan on rack.
Release pan sides. Carefully invert cake onto platter
and remove parchment paper. Sprinkle powdered
sugar atop cake and serve.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is the most common and second-most
fatal cancer among females, affecting one in nine
females who reach age 90. In America, 211,000
women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year,
and there are an average of 43,300 female fatalities
attributed to breast cancer annually. Despite this
alarming statistic, the five-year survival rate of females
who have detected breast cancer early surpasses
95%.
Breast Cancer is More Than A Lump...
A common breast cancer myth is that a lump must be
present for it to be breast cancer. Although a lump is a
common symptom of breast cancer, there are many
breast cancer symptoms women aren't aware of like
sudden change in breast size or a breast that is warm
to the touch.
- 1 in 4 women will be diagnosed with breast
cancer in their lifetime
- Over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with
breast cancer in the U.S. this year
- Over 40,000 women will die from the disease
- Breast cancer occurs in men. In fact, over 1000
men will be diagnosed this year
Breast Cancer Isn't Just About Genetics
Although breast cancer can be hereditary, those with
family members who have suffered from breast
cancer are not the only ones at risk. Many women
have never had anyone in their family diagnosed with
breast cancer. While it is especially important for
women with a genetic disposition for breast cancer to
be regularly screened, it is just as important for
women who don't.
How You Can Raise Breast Cancer
Awareness
There are several things you can do to raise
awareness about breast cancer. You can start by
attending a breast cancer awareness event in your
area. There may be walks, runs, fundraisers, and
rallies to support breast cancer awareness.
You can also let friends and family know about the
dangers of breast cancer. A great idea is to make
breast cancer pink ribbon cookies and give them out
to friends and family with cards that describe how to
do a self breast exam or symptoms of breast cancer.
It's a simple way of getting people to get breast cancer
awareness on their minds!

They came, they saw, and they left with smiling faces
and with their tote bags filled with free samples!
The 2007 OSS Consumer Products Show was a great
success! We hope you had the opportunity to visit us
at The Speedway Club on September 21st. Our staff
and many manufacturers were there to demo and
present new products and give you great ideas for
your office. We had a lot of new furniture and seating
products available for viewing too! Over 300 people
attended the show and enjoyed the outstanding food
prepared by the chefs at The Speedway Club
Restaurant. Lunch was served in the Club
Restaurant overlooking the track at the Lowe's
Motor Speedway. Everyone enjoyed an Italian Feast
and the outstanding desserts that were served. There
were many show specials that featured new products
and we will be featuring some of these items in the
next email sales flyer coming out soon.
The OSS Staff were on hand to meet and greet
customers as they arrived. The show floor was filled
with 43 booths loaded with new products
and many sample products were given out to those
who attended. From apple scented air fresheners to
Zebra pens there was something for everyone at the
show.
Our door prizes included a Fellowes
Personal Shredder, a Hewlett Packard Photo Printer
and an HP Multifunction Printer, an autographed
Richard Petty Shadow Box and dozens of other
awesome products. Congratulations go out to Eddie
Underwood for winning the Richard Petty Driving
Experience! We also congratulate Michelle Kiker of
Thies Realty for
