| Green Facts |
Bones were one of the most recycled items before the twentieth century. Bones were often used for making buttons and gelatin, which was used in food processing, photography, and glue and paper making Plastic bags are easier to recycle and require less energy to produce than paper bags. Cigarette butts and filters take 12 years to biodegrade. An aluminum can takes between 200 to 500 years to biodegrade. Plastic diapers and sanitary pads take between 500-800 years. Styrofoam takes more than 5,000 years. And it would take a glass bottle 1 million years to biodegrade. Each year, Americans throw out enough soda pop cans and bottles to reach to the moon and back-twenty times.

Featured Recipe - Sicilian Grilled Chicken
Ingredients
This easy recipe can be adjusted to suit your taste with the lemon flavor & garlic.
Mediterranean drizzle: 1 large garlic clove, pressed 2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Chicken: 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice 1/2 cup chopped fresh Italian parsley 1/4 cup olive oil 6 garlic cloves, minced 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 2 3 1/2- to 4-pound free-range chickens
Preparation
For Mediterranean drizzle: Make a paste by combining the garlic and 2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt in mortar with pestle or in small bowl with back of spoon and mash until paste forms. Whisk in lemon juice, then oil. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill. Bring to room temperature before using.
For chicken: Whisk lemon juice, parsley, olive oil, garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in medium bowl. Place 1 whole chicken in each of 2 resealable plastic bags. Divide lemon marinade between bags. Seal bags, releasing excess air. Turn to coat chicken with marinade. Chill chicken at least 1 hour and up to 1 day, turning bag occasionally.
Prepare barbecue (medium heat). If using 2-burner gas grill, light 1 burner. If using 3-burner gas grill, do not light center burner. If using charcoal grill, light briquettes in chimney and pour onto 1 side of lower grill rack (you'll need to light more briquettes in chimney to replenish during grilling). Remove chickens from marinade. Sprinkle chickens inside and out with salt and pepper. Tie legs together. Place chickens, breast side down, over unlit side of grill. Cover and grill chickens 45 minutes, adjusting gas levels if using gas grill or adjusting vents and adding more charcoal as needed if using charcoal grill to maintain barbecue temperature between 350°F and 400°F. Turn chickens breast side up. Cover and grill until instant-read thermometer inserted into thickest part of thigh registers 165°F., continuing to maintain barbecue temperature between 350°F and 400°F, about 35 minutes longer. Transfer chickens to work surface; let rest 10 minutes. Carve chickens and transfer to platter. Spoon some of Mediterranean drizzle over chicken. Garnish with grilled lemons.

Swine Flu Outbreak Reminds Us of the Importance of Good Hand Hygiene
Good Hand Hygiene One of the Best Preventatives Against Spread of Germs
In response to the rise in the number of confirmed cases of swine influenza A(H1N1) reported in the United States, Mexico and around the world, the Department of Health and Human Services has declared a public health emergency in the United States. Earlier, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Margaret Chan had determined that current events constituted a public health emergency of international concern. Major health organizations, such as WHO, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada agree that handwashing and hand sanitizing with an alcohol-based hand rub are especially critical to minimize the spread of germs during times of illness outbreak. The CDC recommends:
· Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. · Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. · Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. · Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective. · Try to avoid close contact with sick people. · If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. · Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
GOJO offers comprehensive programs to help you meet the CDC recommendations, including effective soaps and hand sanitizers to help facilities reduce the spread of germs. Additionally, GOJO offers tools to help encourage hand hygiene compliance.
