The Blind Man
A blind man with a seeing eye dog at his side walks into a grocery store. The man walks to the middle of the store, picks up the dog by the tail, and starts swinging the dog around in circles over his head. The store manager seeing this thinks this is quite strange. So, he decides to find out what's going on. The store manager approaches the blind man swinging the dog and says, "Pardon me sir. May I help you with something?" The blind man says, "No thanks. I'm just looking around."

Featured Recipe - Italian Beef and Pepperoni Soup 
Ingredients:
1 pound extra-lean ground beef
1 cup sliced turkey pepperoni (3 ounces)
Vegetable cooking spray
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
4 cups low-sodium fat-free chicken broth
1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Garnishes: sliced fresh basil, shredded Parmesan cheese
Preparation:
Cook ground beef and pepperoni in a Dutch oven coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat 8 minutes or until beef crumbles and is no longer pink. Rinse and drain beef mixture.
Sauté mushrooms and next 3 ingredients in hot oil in Dutch oven 5 minutes. Stir in beef mixture, tomato paste, and next 5 ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes. If desired, garnish and serve with Parmesan or Garlic Toast.
Yield: 10 cups |
| Seven Solutions for a Broken Filing System
Does opening your file cabinet cause stress and anxiety? Is your current filing system not working the way it should? Here are seven ways to repair the most common filing system problems.
Are you using too few headings? As a rule of thumb, you should have not more than four folders in a row without some sort of subheading.
Are you using too many folders? Don't set up a new folder until you have 20 or so related papers to go into it. Use a "miscellaneous" folder at the beginning of each file section to handle a small amount of records.
Are your folders overstuffed? When you have ¾" of papers in a folder, it's time to add another one right behind it. Or switch to a large-capacity box bottom folder.
Do you use interior folders? Even if your folders have the recommended ¾" of contents, finding a single paper in that stack can take too much time. With interior folders, you can divide papers into easy-to-manage groups.
Are your folders worn or torn? Slow filing, misfiles, even missing papers can result. Replace old folders with newer more advanced designed folders such as the Pendaflex Sure-Hook hanging folders.
Are your drawers overloaded? Leave a full 4" if space in each file drawer to leave struggle free access to all contents.
Are you tabbing correctly? Bold, neatly printed labels are a must for readable tabs. Tabs should be staggered across the tops of the folders so you can see them at a glance. The greater the visibility of your folder headings, the less time spent searching for what you want. Other features of newer designed folders include things such as larger tabs, convenient moveable tabs, poly-laminate reinforcement and info pockets for smaller items.
